Meet the Staff
Jana, Office Manager
Jana is responsible for payroll, accounting, customer relations and front office duties at Southwest Oral & Implant Surgery. With four and a half years working with Dr. Eklund, and 25 years of accounting under her belt, she is a master of numbers. She is both CPA and CPR-certified.
Jana’s Philosophy of Patient Care: "Good communication between the patient, doctor and staff is crucial to a patients’ positive experience at our practice. I like to focus on the patient as if they were my only priority while they are in the office."
Tamara, Dental Surgical Assistant
Tamara is responsible for assisting in the administration of anesthesia for Southwest Oral & Implant Surgery patients. Aside from assisting in surgery, she is responsible for inventory, equipment maintenance and is also cross trained in all aspects of the office from the front desk to the back lab. She has worked in the dental industry for more than 22 years, and has been with Dr. Eklund for over seven years. Tamara holds the following credentials: AAOMS Anesthesia Assistant Certification, CPR, Nitrous Oxide and Inhalation, and a Texas registered Dental Assistant for infection control, jurisprudence and radiology.
Tamara’s Philosophy of Patient Care: "Treat patients the way I wish to be treated. Be respectful of their time, honest and fair about their treatment, and considerate of them as a person. Be mindful of their fears and misgivings. Patients are not all the same and should not be treated as such. Everyone should be treated individually."
Becky, RDA Surgical Assistant
Becky is responsible for assisting in surgery and is the dental implant coordinator. She has worked in the dental industry for a total of 26 years and has spent 18 years with Dr. Eklund. Becky holds the following credentials: AAOMS Anesthesia Assistant Certification, CPR, Nitrous Oxide and Inhalation, and a Texas registered Dental Assistant for infection control, jurisprudence and radiology. She is involved with “Elves Build-a-Bike” during the holidays at Reliant Stadium.
Becky’s Philosophy of Patient Care: "Patients deserve to be treated fairly and honestly. It is important that we are considerate of a patient’s time".
Dorothy, Insurance Coordinator
Dorothy acts as a liaison between Southwest Oral & Implant Surgery patients and their insurance companies, and assists patients with account matters. She has worked in the dental field for 33 years and has worked for Dr. Eklund for over eight years. She is a Battleship Texas volunteer.
Dorothy’s Philosophy of Patient Care: "Respect, care and helpful knowledge given to the patient are crucial."
Emma, Receptionist
Emma is responsible for receptionist duties and patient appointment scheduling and check-in. She is a pre-nursing student, a blood donor, and Locks of Love hair donor.
Emma’s Philosophy of Patient Care: "The most important aspect of patient care is honesty between the doctor and patient; the doctor and staff must be approachable so that the patient is comfortable in asking questions."
